awkward moment

So…the lab was a bit empty one day and I was having an issue.

This one machine likes to chime when things go wrong as a warning to the operator. I go over and there is nothing wrong. Walk away and it doesn’t again, and again, and again. For two hours there are warnings and pauses and nothing is actually wrong with the machine.

Finally it chimes again and I say “oh shut up” the moment my boss walks in the lab.

First thing out of my mouth “oh, I’m sorry”.

Awkward….

He then says “I can bring a mallet next time. For the machine.”
